releng,

attached is a text file of the mirror structure from how i see it. sven
had mentioned there wont be a livecd directory anymore? please correct
this file if there are any discrepencies and send back out to -releng.
please get this done asap so that i can pass it back to infra and our
mirror admins so they are ready. thanks!

From what I gathered the use of "livecd/" to house the packages CD led to
too much confusion of our users (cf. topic on #gentoo) and I thought a
decision was made to not use the "livecd/" directory anymore.

Yeah, that is right. Please see the attachment for the latest update.
Also, hardened is not releasing for 2004.1, so those directories may be
omitted.

I would like to clean up the historical stuff a bit - do we really need
1.2 on the mirrors? Can we archive it somewhere? Perhaps just have it on
the OSU mirror? Maybe Kurt's mirror scheme fixes this. Either way, let's
not take action for 2004.1, but consider it for the next release.

...and what about GameCDs?  I will definitely have a x86 ut2004-demo CD
ready for the 2004.1 release.  I will need some help from some of the
amd64 devs if we are to get an amd64 GameCD done, too.

I plan to archive everything until OSU tells us we're using up too much
space.  For our other mirrors, mirroring the /historical direectory is
entirely optional.  They may freely omit it if they wish. (which has been
communicated to them)

Depending on the size of these ISOs, we may or may not be able to mirror
them on our mirrors.  However, we are setting up a bittorrent server which
will allow us to seed torrents for many more ISOs than we could otherwise
handle on our mirrors.

I was under the impression that the ut2004 CD was wanted by Daniel,
releng, et al.  I know that at one point it was even a "TODO" item for
2004.1, which is why I am attempting to get it completed in time for the
2004.1 release.

All other GameCDs would be different and would fall into another
category.  Those would be perfect for bittorrent distribution.

Correct me if I'm wrong on this.

The GameCD is not part of the release, so it does not have to be
released at the same time as 2004.1. Rather, it should be released when
it is sufficiently tested. Perhaps put it up on our BT server a week or
two after 2004.1? Of course, if it is ready to release w/ 2004.1, I
would be more than happy to do it - we just have to make sure that it
meets QA.

BTW - send me your catalyst patches for the gamecds please :)
