Hey,

https://www.gentoo.org/get-started/screenshots/ these aren't very
represantive in 2020. Can we update this page?

Now my question really is, where do we get the material? Do we need to
arrange posts in forums/reddit saying we're looking for desktop
screenshots and if you send one, you agree to putting it up for show in
gentoo.org. Or can we take pictures from places where they are licensed
with licenses such as CC-BY-SA (complying with license terms)? Or do we
just ask our current user/devbase to provide high-quality screenshots
directly in here, or via private e-mail?

There are a couple of good examples in https://twitter.com/gentoo

Ideally I'd like 1 picture of Gnome, 1 of KDE, 1 of Cinnamon/Mate/LXQt,
1 of any tiling WM. Just choose 4-8 the best ones to show how beatiful
Gentoo can get.

Hi,

yes please.

I think I tried to contact PR/artwork project regarding this in the past
when I thought it would be a good idea to bump our 'still compiling'
artwork which was created 10 years ago.

Are only static images allowed/wanted?
I think it might even be awesome to allow small gifs/videos?
A lot of the environments nowadays have cool effects to showcase :)

Cheers,
Aisha

I do not know who is responsible for this page, but we can organize
screenshots via artwork project, if that helps.

Is there really difference between distributions?
I do not understand how the desktop will differ.

I think it would make sense to collect screenshots to explain how Mate
looks like, but Mate on Gentoo vs Mate on Arch...?
