However, I don't anticipate that here. It is fine to change a default in the tree - I think we really only need the Council if we have two sets of devs/projects/whatevers that are actively pushing for one vs another and commit wars are a possibility. If all the maintainers are fine with ffmpeg, just do it. If ping-pong becomes an actual issue I'm fine with it going to the Council. But, in general anybody can ask the Council anything. We can still bring up the topic, though I suspect most of us will say "we're fine with it, but don't feel like you have to ask us." We'll see. --=20 Rich
