Hello Gentoo Community,

I like what this project is about.

I'd like to see it maintain and/or grow it's standing in the ranks of
Desktop and also Server Linux Distributions while remaining a distribution
for software developers and Linux professionals.

Today, I'd like to offer this idea and if the majority of us want to run
with it, we will see it through to it's success, and keep passing it on to
future community members.

The Gentoo Certification Program (a community-based certification for Linux
Professionals). The ranks may be agreed upon as follows:

GCSA / Gentoo-Certified System Administrator $15/hr USD, $13/hr in BTC,
LTC, or MNC
GCE / Gentoo-Certified Engineer $25/hr USD, $23/hr in BTC, LTC, or MNC
GCA / Gentoo-Certified Architect $35/hr USD, $33/hr in BTC, LTC, or MNC

If we can have a program like this, not only does doing what I love for
work become viable, but Gentoo, Portage, and OpenRC (among our other great
components) will get even more well-deserved attention.

I'd love to hear what pay rates we think would be good for our experienced
Linux community members/professionals, as well as for entry-level sysadmins
(and network engineers) like myself. We should, of course, keep in mind
that we do have individual and corporate competitors so we shouldn't cost
as much as, or more than them - lower prices, will get us some
candidates/students and even help in the future. At the same time, giving
our project this stream of income and attention would ideally give this
great effort, some added stability.

Questions, comments, concerns - let's have it!

I look forward to hearing about this in the days and weeks ahead should
this reignite things for us!

Freely and gratefully,
ltl

By the way, Mincoin is like Bitcoin but it becomes spendable much faster
than bitcoins. It's also scarce - and it gets scarcer every time someone
loses their private keys. If you'd like to know more, you can check out our
BitcoinTalk: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=165397.800 and/or join
the Mincoin community at: https://discord.com/invite/Dqdw772 I've been a
part of that project since late-2017 when Bitcoin topped at around $20,000
USD. I've learned so much from it's lead dev who is also a member and/or
enthusiast of Gentoo.

Cheers,
ltl
