Council and trustees are independently elected bodies, so there is n= o
hierarchy between them. Especially, the only way to remove a council
member is by election (or by slacker mark). GLEP 39 is very clear
there.

GLEP 39 has absolutely no= legal standing. It is a fantasy document compared to the actual authority = of the trustees.

Good luck with exercising that authority over developers who are all=
volunteers. :)

Sure, the Trustee= s have no authority over these volunteers -- as long as they are not operat= ing under the Gentoo name, Gentoo infrastructure, Gentoo repos, not using t= he Gentoo logo, Gentoo domains, etc. They are totally free to leave the pro= ject which is run by the Trustees, and then the trustees have no authority = over them. But as long as they are on a project called "Gentoo Linux&q= uot;, the trustees have the authority to remove assholes from the project i= f they so desire.

C= ool, if you want the name, maybe we should just negotiate selling it back t= o you so you can do whatever with it?
