[please reply to gentoo-project@]

Hello, all.

When systemd was introduced in Gentoo, it was just me maintaining it,
plus a few users interested in it. Currently, we have a dedicated team
of five people, a few more developers that are less or more vaguely
interesting in supporting it and a number of users interested
in systemd.

With the growing interest, both positive and negative, we have decided
to perform a few actions to improve both the user and developer
experience.

First of all, we have [asked infra to] set up a gentoo-systemd mailing
list. The mailing list is intended to be used for all the discussions
regarding systemd, its integration in Gentoo and the policies. Everyone
is welcome to subscribe (gentoo-systemd+subscribe@lists.gentoo.org),
the list is also archived on gmane [1].

Until now, most of the intra-team discussions were carried on systemd@
mail alias and therefore were not really open to people not subscribing
it. The mailing list will allow those discussions to be taken openly
and properly archived. It will also allow people to subscribe to them
without needing to subscribe to all the bug-mail that hits systemd@g.o.

We also *expect* all the systemd bikeshed to move out of gentoo-dev@
for a cleaner work environment.

Secondly, I have written down the current ebuild and unit files
policies on our wiki. People who work with systemd support are
encouraged to look the page through [2].

Thirdly, we have decided to arrange open IRC team meeting whenever
a need arises. The meetings will be announced in gentoo-systemd mailing
list 2-3 days in advance with the proposed agenda. Everyone is welcome
to join the meeting and present any issues or questions, including
those not strictly related to the agenda.

Thanks for the attention, have a good [put your time of day here].
