Dear Gentoo Community,

Nominations for the Gentoo Council 2019 / 2020 election will start at
2019-06-08 00:00 UTC (Saturday) and will remain open for the next two
weeks until the end of 2019-06-21 (Friday) (2019-06-22 00:00 UTC).

All nominations must be sent to the gentoo-project mailing list. If you
were nominated and want to run, you have to accept your nomination on
the same mailing list.

Here are the rules:

    * Council elections generally happen once a year
    * The council is composed of seven elected members
    * Nominations are allowed from June 8th 00:00 UTC to end of day
June 21st (June 22nd 00:00 UTC)
    * Only Gentoo developers may be nominated
    * Anyone can nominate (nominating yourself is OK)
    * Nominees must accept their nomination before voting begins
    * Voting is opened from June 23th 00:00 UTC to end of day July 6th
(July 7th 00:00 UTC)
(there is one day of break between nominations and voting so the
infra team has time to set up everything)
    * Only Gentoo developers may vote
    * The list of Gentoo Developers is based on active membership
by end of day June 7th, 2018 (right before the election is opened)
    * Gentoo uses the Condorcet method of voting
    * Results should be published around July 7th

The election page for this election[1] will contain all pertinent
information regarding the election.

Thanks but I'm going to refuse. I believe new blood should be given
a chance here, and old timers like myself should give it some space.
This is a thought I'd like to dedicate to the 'permanent' Council
members.

Besides, since I'm still one of the top posters for Council agenda
I believe it's better to avoid any potential conflict of interest.

Thank you Jimi for the vote of confidence, but as an election official
I cannot run on an election.
I prefer helping with the election than running for it. I'm busy
enough and have other areas I prefer to spend my time on.

Thanks. Happy to give it another go, so yes I accept.

Let's hope for a productive and non-bureaucratic new term.

Thanks, but I'm going to focus on the Foundation and Trusteeship.
Though we opened up the bylaws to allow serving on both Council and
Trustees, I do not think dividing my time would be wise.

On another note, the Trustee elections are coming up as well, so
nominations will open soon. I welcome those that like to complain about
how the Foundation is run to run and fix it.

Thank you, Stefan. I must decline. I am enjoying being a Trustee and spending my time there.

We are making strides in supporting the distribution and developers. Notably, supplying Nitrokeys to them. We also have a few other efforts being worked.

Also, we have a great lead for a CPA to fix our tax situation now which is of utmost importance.

I would like to see these items through for the next year as a member of the board.

Additionally, I believe there are far more technically qualified individuals to lead the day-to-day of the distribution on the council.

Thank you for the nomination. Unfortunately, I cannot accept.
I have 8 month old twins (2 girls) that don't leave me much free
time :-) Maybe next year I'll have more time to dedicate to Gentoo.

Cheers,

Thanks for the nomination, but given my newly elected position as QA
lead, I would run the risk of concentrating power, and as such will
have to decline.

Thanks a lot!
Perhaps in the future I'll run again, but at this time I don't have the
necessary time to be a good Council member.

For this reason, I'll decline.

Thanks,

Agostino,

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'm not sure I'd be the right fit
for Council but I definitely am interested in the Trustees side of the
the distrobution. Unfortuantely, until Gentoo is able to procur or
afford D&O insurance I cannot risk being personally sued and that threat
has too easily been thrown around on mailing lists and IRC.

I respectfully decline.

Mike

Thanks, but not this time:

  * I'm planning a busy Fall semester.

  * Previous councils have done a decent job.

  * I hate computers and might vote to burn the whole thing to the
    ground one day.

Thank you very much but I must respectfully decline your nomination.

Although I think the council requires lots of new people, I don't think
I would be an appropriate addition for the following reasons:

- I am already member of comrel and I belong to those people who think
it's not healthy for Gentoo if a single person gains too much power
through several powerful teams like council, comrel, proctors, qa,
  infra, undertakers etc.
- I am already at the limit regarding my involvement in Gentoo. I have
a small family that wants to spend time with me (and I with them), I
am a Ju-Jutsu coach and some money needs to be earned as well.

Once again thank you very much for the nomination. Perhaps I can make
it at another council election.

Kind regards
Lars

Thank you very much for the nomination. Unfortunately, I have to decline
this year - I won't have enough time for additional Council duties in
the coming months.

Best,

A bit late, but I'd like to formally decline the nomination, in favour
of continuing on the Foundation finances.

Stay tuned for my election platform email, including a recap of prior
CPA efforts documentation.
