He has already been announced everywhere except on this list, which is why this email won't appear on the gentoo-dev-announce list. It's my pleasure to announce that Jorge Manuel B. S. Vicetto is now finally an ebuild developer. Jorge has previously been a forum moderator, sparc AT and then AT lead, so he's hardly new to Gentoo. He is already very busy with the KDE team working to bring us KDE 4.1. Jorge also recently joined the undertakers subproject and was given the devrel complimentary flyswatter. I will keep his presentation very short as most of you already know him. Let's just say that he comes from a place that is as unusual as it is beautiful: the Azorean Islands. Instead I'd rather tell the story of how Jorge is a very good example of how recruiters work nowadays. He was a candidate for recruitment a few months ago, had his review, but his technical skills lacked a bit. It was suggested to him that he should get more experience and retry. And he did just that. With the help of a few of us he worked hard and this time passed with flying colors. This just to tell you that today the purpose of the recruitment process is more about training than selecting candidates. This takes time and (obligatory plug) we need help. Please everybody, give a warm welcome to jmbsvicetto. Denis.
