Speaking as someone whose been in Gentoo since mid-2003, age != respect. Respect is earned, not given simply because one hangs around long enough. Sure, I remember/recall a lot of the back-history that underpins some of the things we have today (I still remember the discussion on the creation of "herds" in Gentoo), but knowledge is not static. Times change and so do processes and methods, and just because I've been around a long time doesn't mean I fully understand the way things are done today. Sometimes I wonder if old devs should re-take the ebuild quizzes every few years to test their knowledge and see if they're keeping up with the times. I got a funny feeling I might flunk today's quizzes once or twice. -- Joshua Kinard Gentoo/MIPS kumba@gentoo.org 4096R/D25D95E3 2011-03-28 "The past tempts us, the present confuses us, the future frightens us.
