Where unambiguous, I'd like to remove "Gentoo" and "Gentoo Linux" from
the title of our projects' names on the Wiki since it is very
redundant. For example, I am a member of
Gentoo Linux Alpha Development
Gentoo Base System
Gentoo Catalyst Project
Gentoo Community Relations
Gentoo Linux HPPA Development
Gentoo Linux IA-64 Development
Gentoo LiveCD Project
Gentoo Linux MIPS Development
Gentoo Linux PowerPC Development
Gentoo Release Engineering
Gentoo Linux s390 Development
Gentoo Linux SPARC Development
Gentoo Toolchain Project
Gentoo X11 Project
It should be pretty obvious that all of these are part of Gentoo,
since they're projects on wiki.gentoo.org :)
Many projects (e.g., BSD, Cinnamon, Cjk, Crypto, Devmanual, Elections,
...) already do not have "Gentoo" in the title, so I think this will
add consistency.
Are there any that should retain "Gentoo" or "Gentoo Linux" in the
name? Perhaps there are some that might be ambiguous without it?
Thanks,
Matt

I suspect it enhances Googability of those pages, if you search for
"gentoo blah" it will make that page much more likely to show up.

I considered that, but "gentoo bsd", "gentoo elections", "gentoo
crypto" all show the respective project pages very highly in the
search results, even without "Gentoo [Linux]" in their names.
Also, even for projects with Gentoo in the name I'm not sure that it
helps. For instance if I google "gentoo alpha" I get the appropriate
project page as the second result (after the handbook link), but the
title of the page is "Project:Alpha - Gentoo Wiki" and not the name of
the project ("Gentoo Linux Alpha Development") and that name text
doesn't show up as any of the abbreviated search results. I don't
think the name is used for much except for the top of the box on the
right side of the project page and on user pages.

This was my first though as well, but if Matt has proven otherwise, then seems
like a small change that should be applied.

I suppose 'Gentoo Wiki' already takes care of that somewhat.
