Good evening,

It is my pleasure to announce a new Gentoo developer in our family.
Guilherme Amadio is joining us from São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo,
Brazil and he will be assisting the prefix team, but he is interested
in the science packages as well. Here is how he describes himself:

"I’m a physicist with a passion for computer science. I’ve been using
Gentoo for a long time (since version 1.2 or so). I finished grad school
last July, so I decided that it was the right time to join Gentoo and
contribute back to a project that has helped me so much along all these
years. I’m Brazilian, of Italian descendence; my greatgrandparents were
mostly from northern Italy. My favorite hobbies are chess, playing my
accordion, and japanese calligraphy. I am joining Gentoo to work on
prefix, but I plan to do other things as well, such as packaging more
fonts and working on gentoo-science."

Please give him a warm welcome!

Yet another physicist joins the ranks of gentoo :) So we have a few
things in common: I'm a ph.d in physics from cornell, I too am of
Italian descent but born in Canada and living in the US. If you haven't
already, you should meet Andreas (aka dilfridge) yet another physicist.
There's a few of us in gentoo.

Thank you everyone for the welcoming messages! It's nice to see a few
fellow physicists around here.

Also, a big thank you to Ruud (redlizard), Benda (heroxbd), Fabian
(grobian), and Markos (hwoarang) for mentoring and recruiting me.

Despite recent discussions about the recruiting process and how some
people think it should be changed, I have to say that for me it was very
enjoyable to go through the process and it certainly feels great to
finally be a part of Gentoo.

Cheers,
—Guilherme

My pleasure. Welcome Amadio on board.

I just realized too that we have a lot in common, especially the
Japanese calligraphy (not to mention a Physics Ph.D. or Prefix).

Enjoy your new identity in the community.

Cheers,
Benda

Yes, are there any others? Or are we the only ones? Unfortunately,
I will only be back in Brazil in May. I am currently at Fermilab
for work. When I get back we can meet for a beer and chat about
  Gentoo and open source.

Meanwhile, if there are any devs based in Chicago and extended area
that would like to have a Gentoo meetup, I'd surely be up for that.

  Best,
  —Guilherme
