Hi,
Today I upgraded netkit-base to latest unmasked from portage (0.17-r6). It
doesn't contain /bin/ping. After some research I found ping in net-misc/iputils,
but it masked for ppc platform. I try iputils-020927 and for now it works fine.
Could it be unmasked? Or may be downgrade to netkit-base-0.17-r4 is better?
Also sys-apps/star-1.4.3 works fine for this platform.

Sorry, here is typos. I upgraded from sys-apps/netkit-base-0.17-r6 to
sys-apps/netkit-base-0.17-r8

For the adventurous: I'm using ping from mininet (http://www.fefe.de/mininet/).
In order to build that, you need
dev-libs/dietlibc-0.22-r2 [ Masked ] (please add ppc keyword)
and
dev-libs/libowfat-0.15 (http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23800)
Both host and ping are working on my iBook.
Cheers,
n.
