In order to build that, you need dev-libs/dietlibc-0.22-r2 [ Masked ] (please add ppc keyword) and dev-libs/libowfat-0.15 (http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23800) Both host and ping are working on my iBook.
