as most of the members haven't been active in months (some have
actually never been active at all).

On a related note this would be a good time for anyone interested in
contributing to Portage to show up. If you have any questions on how
to get into Portage hacking, the current team leaders will be there to
answer your questions to the best of our abilities.

interested in contributing to Gentoo or Portage. There are several
other distros using Portage, but we rarely hear anything from any of
them except for the Google guys every now and again. Then there's the
matter of our users themselves. Surely it is in everyone's interest
that this project doesn't stagnate.

Yeah, I think that would be best this time around.  We don't seem to
have a time when the three main (active) team members are available.
Plus there are a number of other people interested in the team.  Maybe
there are a few interested in joining... 


So, here is a run down of current activity...

We have 3 active members:

Zac Medico: Been busy working on bugs as they come in.  Thanks Zac

Brian Dolbec: Patch review, Doing releases, working on repoman re-write,
              stage 1 of the rewrite has now been released with only a
              few bugs reported against it :)   I also need to get some
              work done on the gkeys integration.

Alexander Bernsten: Mostly been helping review (Zac's) patches.

Ulrich Mueller: PMS liason, submits some patches occasionally

Mike Frysinger: Works on some bugs, mostly maintains Sandbox.

Jesus Rivero: on dev away, hardware failures.

Pavel Kazakov: on dev way, Real life.

Alec Warner: on dev away (long term)

Arfrever Frehtes: helps on irc, no patches submitted yet in 2015

Fabian Groffen: prefix portage: status unknown

Thomas Sachau: multilib portage: status unknown, project seems to have
                                 been replaced by multilib eclasses.

Paul Varner: Tools-portage lead: Limited availability due to health,
             He could definitely use more help. 

    I haven't enough time to work on gentoolkit, but
    can help guide anyone interested in working on gentoolkit, and help
    get another release out with some improvements, bugfixes.


So, why don't we set Sat. Oct. 3 as the deadline for nominations and
acceptance, and new (voting) members to join the team. (I'm don't know
what the rules state about that)

And make Sat. Oct. 10 as the final date for voting.

I must add, it's nice being nominated without it being a sole
nomination. :)

For this past term as "Lead" I want to thank Alexander for stepping up
and assisting me last term.  He was great help in assisting with patch
review and helping steer the course of portage development.  It also
took the pressure off me when I was unavailable during my heart surgery
and subsequent recovery.


Now for my re-election platform / campaign speech ;)

My goals for portage:

Completion of the repoman re-write: 
	stage 2, plug-in systems re-work
 	stage 3, code optimization/improvement, and API development
 		making a Q/A web frontend possible without parsing
 		output.
	add paralleling capabilities.
	Possibly give it an independent pkg install and release cycle

gkeys integration: Complete my preliminary work of adding Manifest
signing verification, add commit signing verification.
 
Continued work to improve the resolver both for accuracy and speed.

With so many current team members now on dev-away.  Try to get a few
more people to work on things.
