Hi again,
I forgot to name the only thing which is still giving me the same error
after the change I proposed (with pre17, that is).
# emerge linux-headers -p
Invalid package name: sys-kernel/linux26-headers
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

!!! Problem in sys-kernel/linux-headers dependencies.

In case you ask, yes I am using linux26-headers as I do with gcc-3.4.1,
hence linux-headers is not merged in my system but linux26-headers is in
its place. Emerging linux26-headers poses no problem whatsoever.
