Hi all

I've noticed the rpm packaging support is a little broken in the
current version of portage. Currently it tries to build packages with
rpm -bb and with the newer versions of rpm it should be rpmbuild -bb. I
have a patch to fixes this (first searches for rpmbuild and then uses
rpm if it can't find it).
Also looking into it, I've cleaned up the dynamic spec a bit and added
several features (ei. provides tag, post env-update || ldconfig, and so
on). I thought before I sent any patches, I just thought I'd inquire
about the status of this feature. I've noticed there seems to be two
streams for this project at the moment (the current portage and
portage-ng).
I have great use for this feature and willing to implement it as fully
as I can (time permitting :P), if your interested. I just need to know
where to send the patches, for your review ;)

Hi once again

From all the responses ;) just wondering if this feature is being
developed and/or supported. Should I put time into extending the portage
code on this or is it being dropped? I do have a need for this feature
and need to make a decision as to where to spend my time and efforts
(maybe rpm building in a separate project?).
I would like know if the portage maintainers would be interested in
patches.

PS.
I do apologize if this sounds pushy or rude, it's not intended to be ;)

please contribute your patches through bugs.gentoo.org. I'm sure one of the current portage developers will find some time to look at them.
