Hello all!
Now that I have write access to the Perl overlay, I'd like to adding quite a few
ebuilds to perl-experimental/dev-perl, that is: the Catalyst ebuilds plus some
other of (probably) common usage.
Of course, I'll maintain them after the addition. ;-)
Before going on I'd like to know if there's something I should know, or some
reason why I shouldn't be doing this. It's my first attempt at a contribution to
an official overlay project, so I thought asking was appropriate.
Thanks,
Michele.

Hi!
OK, I went on with this.
By the way, has somebody any information regarding perl 5.10 into portage?
Thanks,
Michele.

Excellent. I'm, like, your #1 fan, I think. '-)

Not me, sorry.
. . .
I don't know where to ask/mention, but I've had to:
ls /usr/overlay/perl-gcpan/|while read atom ; do if
[ -d /usr/portage/local/layman/perl-experimental/dev-perl/$atom ] ;
then nice -10 emerge -Cv perl-gcpan/$atom && emerge --oneshot -v
dev-perl/$atom; fi ; done;
Any thoughts? Is this something that should never have to be done?
If g-cpan isn't strictly needed to keep 'world' current with a perl
installation, what is the recommended method?
Cheers,

This is actually needed when switching from gpan packges (which are in
perl-gcpan category) to "regular" dev-perl ones.
I tend not to use g-cpan too much myself: when I need a Perl-related ebuild, I
create it. If I think it's of general interest, then it goes into the
perl-experimental overlay as well. ;-)
Talk to you soon,
Michele.
