Hello,

We have recently paid our 2021 taxes ($2,508). In addition, we have
paid estimated taxes for the 2022 year (for us this runs July 2021 -
June 2022.)

In Fiscal 2021 we had net revenues in excess of $14,000, which
resulted in a fairly large tax bill (over 5k.) We only owed $2,508
because we were able to carry forward a loss from Fiscal 2020 (when we
paid our back taxes.) We did not take a loss in Fiscal 2021, which
means in 2022 we will owe a larger tax bill.

To avoid this high tax bill, the president (me) and treasurer (robin)
are endeavouring to spend more money in Fiscal 2022. We pay taxes only
on revenue after expenses; so increasing our expenses will both reduce
our tax burden as well as provide any value those expenses may deliver
to Gentoo.

To achieve this, we will likely spend significantly on computing
infrastructure to replace aging assets hosted at the OSUOSL. Expect
some draft RFPs for spending soon from the infra team which will go to
the council for approval.

As is typical for this time of year I am also eager for other ideas on
how to allocate additional funds in service to Gentoo and its mission.

-A
