Apparently these need to be re-posted.
I hereby nominate:
g2boojum
reasons already given, others have made further points in support.
zmedico
perhaps the most useful code developer Gentoo currently has, but more
importantly perhaps the most level-headed dev as well. excellent at putting
the needs of Gentoo above his own personal feelings, despite much
provocation.
pauldv
an old-school original.
seemant
the same.
solar
ditto
wltjr
perhaps the only dev who kept pushing to get this sorted out when everyone
else had forgotten about it.
rl03
only person who stood last time, and clearly has useful experience
NeddySeagoon
the grand old man! ;p *runs*
I especially don't think it's a good idea for people on the Council also to
be on the board of Trustees; burnout if nothing else, but the idea is that
these are two wholly separate entities. Close communication is important of
course, but I don't think any of the people I've nominated would make that at
all difficult.

Gentoo is to important to depend on guys like me. In real life I'm a
slacker. I don't pay my taxes on time. I barely clean my house. I pay my
bills usually just often enough so services don't get shutoff. I slack
even on going get stamps and mail off the checks. I'm fictitious. I
don't respect authority. It would be a terrible choice to put these
legal matters into my hands. Unless there is gold/silver/barter/money
involved I slack.

Thank you for the nomination. I'm not sure however whether I should accept
this. Basically, since having finished by Ph.D. 1 1/2 year ago, I've had
little time to work on gentoo. I guess you could say the same about the
foundation. I don't see that I have more time in the near future to devote to
this. At the moment I think that gentoo is better of with me not being a
trustee, and instead having someone who has more time to devote to the role.
As another point though. In The Netherlands it is common for these kinds of
foundations to have an advisary council. Basically the job is to make sure
that the actual board does what it should do, and to prevent knowledge
leaving with the election of new trustees. I think that the new trustees
should consider such an advisory council (in light of what happened to
trigger this). In such a case I would be willing to be a part of such
council.

I think I mentioned advisers to the board briefly on the
#gentoo-trustees IRC channel. I agree having advisers would be ideal.

I simply wish to offer my services in an advisory role to the trustees.
I have experience running organizations, as well as a great deal of
experience in the non-profit world, particularly with grants & fund
raising. With this, I suppose I should take the staff quiz, as I am
interested in taking on some responsibilities relating to Gentoo. I
have posted some of my ideas to this list, & Mr. Joshua Jackson
syndicated that post to his blog, here:
http://tsunam.org/2008/01/21/guest-post-matthew-summers/
Whats more, I have the motivation, time, & connections to make the ideas
I covered in the above post happen. I would love the opportunity to
collaborate with the trustees & developers to make Gentoo just a bit
better. I love Gentoo & I want to do my part to help!
I hope you will find my input noteworthy, & take me up on my offer.
Best Regards,
Matthew Summers
