[gentoo-mirrors] ANNOUNCEMENT gentoo 2005.1-r1 media refresh

Mirror Admins,

Your trusty gentoo release engineering contact here again. We plan to
push out a media refresh of some of our livecd's and stages to account
for some bugs found in our original 2005.1 media.

Here are the approximate sizes of data for:
releases/
621M    amd64
958M    ppc64
19M     snapshots
844M    sparc
1.1G    x86

experimental/
685M    x86

x86 Experimental will be cleaned out prior to the push of the new
media. 

I plan to start pushing this out around Thursday evening EDT, and
"flipping the bit" sometime late on the weekend to make it public.

Please voice any concerns you have on this ML or in #gentoo-mirrors on
irc.freenode.org. As always, on behalf of Gentoo, we thank you for your

[gentoo-mirrors] Masterdistfiles in europe.

This has been discussed several times and both i and others have at one
point or another offered resources both on and of the list but i still
haven't heard anything about a european master being set up.
What is the status on this subject?

We have the colo space and bandwidth and are simply seeking a server at
this point.  If someone has a *dedicated* server they're willing to donate
to the Gentoo project, please contact me off list.  It needs to have at
least ~250GB of high quality disk, ~1-2GB of RAM and a P4, Xeon or Opteron
processor.

I got errors:

opendir "/releases/sparc/2005.1-r1" (in gentoo) failed: Permission denied
opendir "/releases/x86/2005.1-r1" (in gentoo) failed: Permission denied
opendir "/releases/amd64/2005.1-r1" (in gentoo) failed: Permission denied
rsync error: some files could not be transferred (code 23) at main.c(1173)

Veiko,

Where are you syncing to? If you are not syncing to
masterdistfiles.gentoo.org with the specified user/pass, you will most
likely get those perm denied errors.

I am syncing to masterdistfiles.gentoo.org with the specified user/pass and i 
have the same problem.
I had no problems since today at 00:00 Spain time.
Is the problem in or side?

with username and password.

Georgi,

I am checking into this now on our side and with the hosting provider of
the masterdistfiles.g.o.

Can anyone report a completed sync of the 2005.1-r1 stuff?

Greg, et al.

The issue has been fixed. masterdistfiles.g.o was rebuilt recently and
the UID's of our staging box and the hosting provider of mdf.g.o did not
match up. Thanks to Corey Shields over at the OSL for fixing that on
short order.

I'm syncing against masterdistfiles.gentoo.org with the password that was given
to me when i got the first time access. I'm talking about Estonian mirror.

Hello!

I assume we are staging a new release now but I seem to be getting a lot of 
errors in my log. Are these kind of errors expected or is there something 
wrong with our current mirror/sync?

Examples:
rename "/mnt/gentoo-mirror/distfiles/.gnupg-1.4.2.1.tar.bz2.9t9Igj" -> 
"distfiles/gnupg-1.4.2.1.tar.bz2": No such file or directory
rename "/mnt/gentoo-mirror/distfiles/.wine-0.9.8.tar.bz2.8HgsWx" -> 
"distfiles/wine-0.9.8.tar.bz2": No such file or directory
delete_one: unlink 
"/mnt/gentoo-mirror/distfiles/vdr-1.3.41-gentoo-patchset-0.3.tar.bz2" failed: 
No such file or directory
delete_one: unlink "/mnt/gentoo-mirror/distfiles/ardour-0.9beta28.tar.bz2" 
failed: No such file or directory

It is being synced with the following:
rsync -rlptHDvq --delete --password-file=/root/.distfiles/passwd 
gentoo@masterdistfiles.gentoo.org::gentoo /mnt/gentoo-mirror
