the A or AAAA record at your discretion. ***

As you know, up to now, we've asked new Gentoo Portage mirrors to sync 
from rsync1.us.gentoo.org. This was mainly for historical reasons. 
However, we would like to use rsync1.us as a community mirror entry 
someday and create similar DNS entries for distfiles and portage. 
(masterdistfiles & masterportage).

I just modified my script to sync against masterportage.gentoo.org, and
by default it resolved it to IPv6 address. Anyway, i get access denied:

@ERROR: access denied to gentoo-portage from mirrors.ipv6.linuxant.fr
(2001:41d0:2:4e85::26)

on Jun 14 10:05:01 CEST 2010. Can you see if my IPv6 is in access list ?

There was a DoS against our DNS provider which should now be
mitigated, so things should be back to normal.

I also noticed that the rsyncXX.xx.gentoo.org DNS entries have no AAAA records even when IPv6 is supported, is that something we need to update?

Eventually, we will get to that point. We don't want to do it all at 
once quite yet. One thing at a time. :) Actually, this thread has shown 
that our community mirrors have more IPv6 support that I thought.

Very cool, that's good to hear!  As your blog points out, runout is coming, like it or not.  =)

I'm actually surprised at the number of IPv6 clients I have on my distfiles mirror via ftp and http.  Hurricane Electric can take a lot of that credit, they seem to be originating half the BGP6 routing table right now.  =)

As far as I can see, you are currently a distfiles mirror only, so you
should continue using masterdistfiles.gentoo.org.  If you want to become
a portage mirror as well, please open a bug so we can process the
request.

Added the IPv6 IP.  The IPv4 IP is the same as what we already had.

Hello

We switched the portage directory to the new server. it resolve to ipv6 by default however, We cannot connect using ipv6.
We get access denied. 
We are forcing it to ipv4 for now as it is working but would it be possible to add the ipv6 address to the access list?

We are only doing a rsync of gentoo-portage for the new server.
should we point the distfiles synchronization to the same server?
