I guess the -P Prune option can help you, but it does not handle multiple versions very well. I removed all my gentoo-sources because i switched to hardened-sources lately by simply, issuing an "emerge -C gentoo-sources" (This removes ALL slots). Of course, you should make a backup of your .config. I don't know about Kde, maybe pruning all kde packages would help.
