Hi,
I have an old G3 powerbook Firewire (pismo) and I can't seem to get my
wifi working... My access point is the Apple Airport (flying saucer).
I'm new to Linux and wireless networking so I don't know quite were to
start. It seems that many of the wireless ebuilds are blocked...
Does anybody know where I should start?
Thanks
Rick

Hi,
some wireless card providers do not give wireless drivers
for linux. For this, search in google for ndiswrapper.
Also you need wireless-tools to be installed. Just
google a bit about these two things and you will find
a lot of information about how to set up wireless in linux.

Almost certainly you have an Apple Airport card in your computer. You
just need to recompile your Kernel with Apple Airport support.
-> Device Drivers -> Network device support -> Wireless LAN
(non-hamradio) -> <*> Apple Airport support (built-in)
An lspci as root will show that an Apple Airport card is available. You
can then reconfigure it with iwconfig.

Maybe here: http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/apple.html
or here: http://penguinppc.org/kernel/
NDIS is an API for NICs jointly developed by Microsoft and 3 Com. As you
don't use an x86 based architecture, ndis-wrapper won't work. And you
don't need it neither.
