As a very gross rule, I've been happy with Dell and Thinkpads, and been
unhappy with Vaio. My own experience is supported by comments from
friends and what I've read on the web.

Now that I've said this, I'm sure someone will respond with exactly the
opposite. But I'm very interested in the answers.
