Hi
of course I tried using the promt, same result.
Sorry, forgot to mention...
I used knoppix (installed, not live) and some SuSEs before and wanted to get
rid of all that forced misconfiguration and securty issues - thus wanted to
switch to gentoo, however I'm unable to install it^^
Here's the original info, in case someone new has an idea.

>CPU is an Intel Centrino.
>The GUI Installer stops after "setting the root passwort" in the install
>output, piping to bash doesn't give any hints as well.
Help appreciated

Huh? There must be *something* different, considering you'd be setting
the password yourself in this case!?
What do you mean by "piping to bash", and what exactly does it do when
the installer stops? Complete lockup, crashing installer (so you get
thrown out to a shell), hanging installer (but you can steill switch
consoles), something else? If it's anything but the former, try running
dmesg on another console when the installer fails, and see if there are
any hints.
cheers!
Matthias

Hi guys!
thanks for your guessing, the problem has changed a little.
It must be around the 34th time i tried installing it, AND NOW IT WORKED.
Somehow.
I'm pretty sure the new crash is no matter of Laptop any more, preinstallation
started magically, however stops before creating the new partition table.
->
Found a similar bug on gentoo bugzilla, going to update the GLI.
Thanks for caring!

Sorry Nils, I'm completely unfamiliar with GUI gentoo installation. What has already been accomplished so far in the install process? What output do you get if you try to just do a passwd?
