DRI - Direct Rendering Interface is (I think) the opengl mode

try $glxgears to see performance of your video card

try "glxinfo | grep direct" to see if direct rendering is enabled

I had direct rendering enabled in /var/log/Xorg.0.log and disabled in
glxinfo

So far I haven't resolved it (probably wrong libGL library) but I've
given up

On my i915 card I get around 700-800 fps on glxgears and it should be
1500-1800 with direct rendering enabled

Have a good time with DRI
