Message-ID: <20130815192813.3df647a9@TOMWIJ-GENTOO> X-Mailer: Claws Mail 3.9.0 (GTK+ 2.24.20; x86_64-pc-linux-gnu) Precedence: bulk List-Post: List-Help: List-Unsubscribe: List-Subscribe: List-Id: Gentoo Linux mail X-BeenThere: gentoo-kernel@lists.gentoo.org Reply-to: gentoo-kernel@lists.gentoo.org Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=PGP-SHA1; boundary="Sig_/vGa=UUPDshgGC2H9gzJTH59"; protocol="application/pgp-signature" X-Archives-Salt: 79078ff2-96a5-47b6-b6ce-c20ba357bbcb X-Archives-Hash: 38de4b1c1a0088237af938bf67bbc781 --Sig_/vGa=UUPDshgGC2H9gzJTH59 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hello If you maintain kernels based on genpatches for a non Gentoo Linux audience and do not want a Gentoo Linux menu or Gentoo Linux defaults present on those particular kernels; then I want to make you aware that you need to ensure that you drop 4567_distro-Gentoo-Kconfig.patch from the patch set after extraction. This patch has been, in first instance, introduced to deal with one of the large annoyances our users have to deal with; which is the need for the user to enable DEVTMPFS, we now enable this by default. As a result, our users will no longer experience this problem and a lot of documentation that previously recommended this can be simplified. Besides that, we also try to provide options that ease changing a lot of CONFIG variables at once; for instance, if an user wants systemd support in the kernel the user can now toggle just one option instead of searching all the options one after another. This latter addition is an experiment, but I believe that it will be seen as useful... This will be present in the next releases (3.0, 3.2, 3.4, 3.10+). If you experience inconvenience, let me know so I can help. Thank you for your understanding. --=20 With kind regards, Tom Wijsman (TomWij) Gentoo Developer E-mail address : TomWij@gentoo.org GPG Public Key : 6D34E57D GPG Fingerprint : C165 AF18 AB4C 400B C3D2 ABF0 95B2 1FCD 6D34 E57D --Sig_/vGa=UUPDshgGC2H9gzJTH59 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=signature.asc -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.20 (GNU/Linux) iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJSDQ+tAAoJEJWyH81tNOV9tRsH/jVXoMnNanF5iTCL98c8aLbk v1H7YTUMdTxDZfpAqd2S6g4BhTwZyWEkTtcmFluiKu2MK/t/K/uEp/aK0Pzaq5/1 mW8EgKOFda6lb5DRZSAala0WA8MXp41nSeiX7PQMNOEHBqL7j04w5HgatmMm3ECJ HJGvc4xEhtgUtU0X+iOaCfDgWnBz23WND1y/9OSZnf2XcI8iCVNrJ5RaEicQtUyt ROFTroS7isACoW79sejs4SE5PICfOCLzsIxz/W/w61lVL5+OwIcBJbQySZawP34G e+bAN+bGGyRj3Eyj6p59Ra9m2Zx3m5usFSXnV+VYl4bBx5d9VAwp+kKifb+2gRI= =os94 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Sig_/vGa=UUPDshgGC2H9gzJTH59--
