Hello list,

I am currently working on ebuilds which have swtcalendar as a dependency.

I do not see any reason why not moving dev-java/swtcalendar from
java-overlay to main portage tree, or am I missing something?

Regards,
Fabian

I suppose the question is.... Are any of those packages your working on end-
user applications. From what I understand swtcalendar is just a library and
therefore we will not add it to the tree until it is required by an
application. We don't have the man power to maintain libraries just for the
sake of them sadly.

Thanks

Alistair.

Ah, I understand.

And yes, I am working on an ebuild which provides an
end-user-application, which is called Hibiscus, an online-banking
software [1].

I also filed a bug-report for it [2], which also lists the dependencies
which are not yet packaged in Gentoo but I have created ebuilds for.

Although the ebuilds are already working (at least for me) so that one
can use the application productively, they still have some structural
flaws, the biggest one beeing missing Eclipse libraries like
eclipse-runtime, forms, jface, osgi and birt. Currently those
dependencies are not build from source but installed as binary. But I
will write a separate mail on this issue.

I thought I get Hibiscus' dependencies one after another into Gentoo
(java-overlay?) and started with hbci4java [3], the library which
implements the HBCI protocol and therefore provides the core banking
functionality for Hibiscus.

Although I have some experience with Java and Gentoo Packaging, I could
need a lot of help from the Java-team to manage this not-quite small
project.

Do you maybe have some advices for me on how to approach this task?

Regards,
Fabian
