It's going to be trivial to support 1.6. One of the main strategies of the new system has been that it will switch VMs at build time appropriately. So, if there is a package which doesn't build against 1.6, it will build with 1.5 or whatever instead. We've been testing with 1.6 betas for several months now, so most packages that break with it have been already updated to use 1.5 instead.
