Hey folks,
I'm pleased to announce that we will be moving our overlays to
overlays.gentoo.org. They are being tar'd up and moved as I type this.
If you are a committer, please refrain from committing until further notice.
More details will follow when the transfer is complete.

The overlays have successfully been moved over to overlays.gentoo.org!
The new svn repo is at:
http://overlays.gentoo.org/svn/proj/java/
The new trac is at:
http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/java/
Some of the overlays have been renamed / dropped, as detailed below:
Renamed overlays:
gentoo-java-experimental -> java-experimental-overlay
migration-packages -> migrated-java-experimental-overlay
Overlays that haven't changed:
axxo-overlay
chewi-overlay
gcj-overlay
Out of commission overlays:
free-java-overlay
maven-overlay
Also, all the projects, ie java-config-ng, java-config-wrapper, have
moved into the 'projects' subdir in the repo.
Layman and the documentation will be updated as soon as is reasonably
possible.
Regards,
Josh

Shouldn't the axxo-overlay go away too given that it is unmaintained[1] and
that the java migration is complete now ?

It's there for reference. All the packages in it are using the new
eclasses, albeit they were named differently then.

So maybe it's a good reason for removing it? People still using it (or
trying to use it) will run into many funny problems.

If we're concerned about that, I guess I could tar it up, and stick it
somewhere, then remove the overlay.

fyi,
There is alot of work hidden in there. If you plan to re-port every
ebuild, you'll be duplicating alot of annoying work

You're right of course. If there haven't been any changes for a package
aside from keywords since the overlay was sync'd, I generally just yank
the ebuild, rebump it, and make sure it's using the new eclasses.
iirc, it was mostly packages that didn't use ant that needed a lot of
work. In particular, I recall db being a pain. Does that sound about right?
