Subject: [gentoo-java] System broken due to a use of a 1.5 JDK for a system VM
Date: Thu, 25 May 2006 10:54:10 +0200 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <1148547251.3433.13.camel@pegasos> (raw)
Hello !
I'm having a problem while trying to emerge Java's Eclipse's SDK with
"xerces" package.
Please see : http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134232 for log error
and details.
I then saw on http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/java/tiger-faq.xml that was
maybe due to the use of the 1.5 JDK as a system VM.
So now, I've switched to my 1.4.2.04 JDK but I still have an error
('java-config -S ibm-jdk-bin-1.4.2.04') on the same package.
Not being an expert at all, I don't know what to do :-(
Finally, at the end of the FAQ page I saw this :
"4. So I went and broke my system by using a 1.5 JDK... how do I fix
it?
We recommend people that have been using a 1.5 JDK for a system VM
switch over to the migration-overlay. The instructions for using it
describe how to make sure everything gets recompiled with a 1.4 JDK. "
Well... the problem now is that I'm not sure to understand how to switch
to this "overlay" ? Do I have to rebuild my all system ?
Could somebody tell me how to check what packages are wrong and what to
do ?
Thanks & best regards.
