I've got a net-mail/dovecot-fts-xapian package in GURU. Whenever
net-mail/dovecot is updated, my xapian package (which is a plugin to
Dovecot) should be rebuilt. How do I do that?

If this is somewhat "normal" scenario for Dovecot plugins, you should
ask the maintainers of net-mail/dovecot to set a subslot equal to
version, and then use := in the dependency string.
