[I tried posting a similar message via gmane yesterday but it seems to
have gotten lost. Apologies if this shows up as a duplicate.]
I am trying to set up a fairly minimal root filesystem with various
packages including python, which depends on libstdc++.so.6, which
seems to require installing the entire gcc package.
Is there an easy way to install just the shared libraries from gcc,
without all the other stuff? I looked at the libstdc++ package, but
that seems to be only provided for compatibility with an older version
of libstdc++.
Any help would be appreciated.

nope, you'll have to copy the files by hand atm
