[gentoo-embedded] Kernel nls hell

In my stage3-uclibc-0.9.28 attemps, i've found some nasty thing

By default, some apps request gettext as a dependency

when going to configure the kernel, the NLS checking is just seeing if there
is a libintl.h file!

It's no news that uclibc has a broken nls implementation, or better, doesn't
have. From this point, i can only go ahead defining by hand a override on
scripts/kconfig/Makefile as -D KBUILD_NO_NLS (i think)

Is there any other way to check specificaly for uclibc? gettext continues to
confuse makefile's behavior

the latest kernel versions should detect NLS support automatically ... you 
shouldnt have to force random defines ...

There was a bug opened about that "kernel >= 2.6.12 requires gettext/nls
but uclibc doesn't have it" problem but I can't find it anymore. You
mean it's fixed in recent versions ?

yeah, half-fixed at 2.6.14-gentoo-r4
mainstream going right for 2.6.15

"half-fixed" probably explains why I still ran into this on mips-sources some in 
2.6.14.  Rather than re-investigate the mess again, I've re-applied my reversal 
patch and cooked up a 2.6.15 patch that also reverses the NLS stuff.  Maybe 
2.6.16 will be the charm that finally works right.
