Per bug 260403 (http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=260403), the
autobuilds are now the way to go for installing Gentoo. Note that there
are no 2009 CDs/DVDs yet. Users will still need 2008.0 discs. Even
though the GLI is officially deprecated, that's their only option right
now for networkless installs, too.
We've talked about changing up the handbook structure in the past[1],
perhaps it's time to once again consider some new structure. I'm not
sure that using /2009/ etc. for networkless media is the best way of
organizing our material, given the autobuilds. Unless releng will
continue to do 20XX.Y point releases for networkless CDs only? They're
CCed for comments on that.
So. We have lots of work to do on the handbooks just for the autobuilds.
Should we have a new directory layout as well?
Discuss.
