That's weird; somehow alsa's installer wants to install the init script in /etc/rc.d/init.d (the redhat's way) instead of /etc/init.d. Dou you happen to have a directory /etc/rc.d on your system, and what does it contain, and how did it get to be there? Could you please open a bug report about this?
