Or better yet, you can stack your own mix of profiles:
# rm /etc/make.profile
# mkdir /etc/make.profile
# cat >/etc/make.profile/parent <<EOF
/usr/portage/profiles/default/linux/mips/10.0/cobalt/n32
/usr/portage/profiles/targets/developer
EOF
This avoids the need for desktop/developer/server everywhere, as I'm not
aware of ANY end profile of those that applies any other changes.
