Yes. This is for running Linux natively on them, but you are generally
advised to keep macOS as well (in a dual-boot kind of setup) for future
non-distributable firmware upgrade purposes.

https://asahilinux.org/ is the upstream project and there is already
https://github.com/chadmed/asahi-overlay and
https://github.com/AsahiLinux/docs/wiki/Installing-Gentoo-with-LiveCD

This official projects first goals are to review and bring much of the
overlays content to the main ::gentoo tree, keep maintaining it
(together with asahi-overlay contributors) and work towards new easier
installation approaches.

Personally I use Gentoo Linux (with the asahi-sources kernel) on my M2
Mac Studio as my main machine with fully HW accelerated GNOME, only
booting to macOS for occasional iOS work or HDR support use. My macOS
visits are painful though, and I might end up looking at Gentoo prefix
to make it less painful, albeit I suspect the iOS work will be over and
HDR working in linux for me sooner than I can get to looking into that.

My main motivation was a completely silent machine which is more
powerful than my Ryzen 3700X - big package compilation times are now
2.5 times faster, mostly from core count. But it's also for (non-
gentoo) development in rust.
