Have a look at bug #40127 (http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40127). It lets you do stuff like: emerge --restore 10/03/2003-18:00 Unfortunately what with the portage rewrite it doesn't look like this will get merged into mainstream portage.
