Was there yesterday, but not today! I had to transfer the file from
distfiles on another machine. I am considering setting up a local
"mirror" on my internal network. Essentially just exporting
/usr/portage/distfiles or maybe all of /usr/portage via NFS so that this
doesn't happen again.
Thanks!

The main Gentoo server had some problems that I belive have been
resolved by now. (I'm not sure because I just got home.) Due to
bandwidth limitations it may take a while to fully update ibiblio.
Mirrors, in any form, are a good thing for open source. Bandwidth is
expensive. Anything you can do to reduce hosting costs helps.

I recently got a canoscan 300 that uses a scsi adaptor for its io. I've
been able to ge the the adaptor working, and the scanner shows up on the
scsi bus. However, I've found out that the canoscan 300 is not supported
with a standard sane install (there's a canon sane package that I've
downloaded). The question I'm asking is, one, am I gonna have to resort
to manually "patching" sane, and installing it, and if so, how could I do
this using the ebuild system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!!!
