Subject: [gentoo-dev] is portage not so fresh?
Date: Sun Feb 25 14:09:01 2001	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <Pine.LNX.4.21.0102251257280.25492-100000@grace.speakeasy.org> (raw)

Consider me a tester. I like the whole gestalt of gentoo. Your distro is doing
a lot of things right. I want to help. And I want to use.

I want a light fast distro that I can use for server deployment without a lot of
hassles. And getoo looks like it is going there.

I tried to use ebuild to get a portage back on my system.

portage > ebuild portage-1.4-r15.ebuild merge
/usr/bin/ebuild: import-settings: command not found
/usr/bin/ebuild: import-configsettings: command not found

!!! packagename is not a valid package name. Exiting.

is there a tar.gz I can use get my system back into a KGS (known good state) ?

I don't really know the directory hierarchy that well.

Sean.
