'lo everyone!
Been trying to install Gentoo on a notebook (Sharp Actius 250) lately
and ran into some problems.
The regular PCMCIA CDRom is not supported by Linux, at least according
to www.linux-notebook.org ; so far my own attempts to find a suitable
module only confirm the problem.
Booting with it is just fine, though; so I figured getting the network
to run might be another way to install Gentoo. Unfortunately, no driver
for a Realtek network card seems to be included (ie, rtl8139). Are there
any alternatives I could give a try?
In addition, would it make sense to include very basic network support
within the rescue image so that an install-by-ftp becomes an option?
Thanks a lot in advance,
Oliver

Reality continues to ruin my live.

Look for 8139too module for the 8139 based network cards/pcmcia-thingies.
THere is another one (the non "too" version), but I think "they" stopped
working on it and you won't find it in the 2.4.x series *shrug*.
Good luck,
