[gentoo-dev] problem with proftpd

After uncommenting
"ftp     stream  tcp     nowait  root    /usr/sbin/tcpd proftpd"
from inetd.conf, and running the xconv.pl script to convert, and then restarting
svc-xinetd,

I get the following error
@400000003b4c2419043b6984 <86>Jul 11 10:01:51 proftpd[2628]: connect from
10.72.164.19 (10.72.164.19)
@400000003b4c241905813bac <27>Jul 11 10:01:51 proftpd[2628]: miway3 - unable to
set gid to 4294967294, current gid:5

on the client side, I just get service not available

What am I doing wrong ???

we have a bug in /etc/group

change the GID for the nogroup group wrom -2 to 65534 and proftp will
work.
