I don't know what this was from, but...
I'm using IE5.? (I'm at work so cut me some slack) and when I typed in
www.gentoo.org the response was to download a file of {unknown} file name or
type.
I typed in www.gentoo.org/index.html and it worked OK.
Similarly, the link from gentoo.com puked.
It's OK to hate microsoft, but I do want to read up on gentoo. OK?

Typing www.gentoo.org in the address bar works for me with IE6 patched
to the latest standard under Win98 (under Win4Lin under Linux).

I have to use Winblows because our customers use Winblows on their
desktops. However, I do keep it in a little cage surrounded by Linux,
and I run Cygwin under it to torture it even further...

(didn't reply to Mark Gordon <spamtrap@flash-gordon.me.uk> directly)
I have reported this problem a few days ago, it ISN'T a typical winblows
problem. I was able to reproduce it on IE5,6(latest), konqueror and lynx
from mac OSX, windows and linux.
I also experienced it using different providers, so I'm absolutely certain
it isn't provider or settings-related.
Screenshots are available from http://www.gentoo.org/~pvdabeel/
cvs.gentoo.org seems to work always for me. I've already posted
traceroutes to the core mailinglists.

Could this be a mod_gzip problem?

Hehe, while were on the subject. Carlos, it's 29th not 29nd; I'm
guessing it was just a copy and paste from last weeks newsletter.
