So why not update the message to tell the truth so others
that stumble into the problem in the future will know what
to do?

The mailman version we are using is not that powerful, and the hack is a
stop-gap measure until we've implemented a proper solution.
Kind regards,

Just changing the reply message temporarly should be an easy hack in the code if
it cant be done via configuration files.

Hello,
I posted a couple of messages and got back:
moderator....
The reason it is being held:
Message has a suspicious header
What does this mean? It is some
spam blocking filter ?
I suspect it has to do with the attachment.
It's a bit frustrating to be marked as a spammer :-)
It will be a big promblem when spammers will learn
how to use bugzilla :-)
The only thing I don't like in bugzilla is the latency in
its comunication. For example I have written a little (20 lines)
script and I would like to hear some feedbacks before writing
an ebuild for it and submit it to bugzilla.

I usually solve this moderator problem with simply paste the script in the
mail itself. I know that it can become a bit messy but hey, none of my mails
that have gone to moderators (starting from about a month ago) have never reached
the list. So why wait... I guess noone is actually reading those moderatorlists.

I know that attachment should be avoided in this list because it is
better to use bugzilla, but sometimes it's easier to share ideas using mail.
I think that enabling attachment from list members would be a good
compromise. The list will remain open and most spammers will be catched.

I believe Karl announced about a month or so ago that all incoming messages that contained attachments were going to be zapped - this was a direct result of the attahment virus that spammed the -gentoo lists shortly before. Not sure, but I suspect that that relates to your problems,
Michael

We really need a better milter; what we want to do is disallow people who
send mail with Outlook to send non-PGP attachments (if you browse back,
you'll that this rule would catch all the viruses we've had on the list
so far).
Before we've installed a proper milter, we're filtering out all
messges with attachments, regardless. The only attachment that is valid is
a PGP signature.
The "held for moderator approval" is an outright lie; we
delete all these messages without reading their content.
Kind regards,
Karl T
