Right now it has one scsi disk filled up with an NTFS partition. There are no more scsi drives available so I put an ide drive in as well. ok so I have 1 drive on a pci scsi controller and one drive set up as the primary master ide device. My question is this: how I assign these drives to grub? what numbering system do they use? I've got grub working on my laptop a thinkpad 600e fine with 2 ide hard disks and a whole bunch of OSes and paritions. grub is very powerful and simple but I can't find any config file examples or instructions reflecting a mix of ide and scsi devices. I need some help installing grub for the first time and writing a menu.lst file or .1st I always forget I just make links for both Gentoo seems to be a fantastic distribution. Up until now I've been using Linux From Scratch to get away from the red tape of most distributions. (I'm also dying to install gentoo on my laptop, but I don't even want to try a laptop installation until 1.0)
