Would it be possible to point at alternatives?  pm-utils worked well for
me until now, and I'm fairly certain this won't be abandoned unless
there are other (better?) alternatives available.

Kind Regards,
Jaco

It is replaced by elogind or systemd builtin functions.

sys-power/suspend seems to work for me on my system. Calling s2ram puts the
machine into S3 state, and it resumes without issue thus far.

pm-suspend --> s2ram
pm-hibernate --> s2disk
pm-suspend-hybrid --> s2both

Useful to know. And with pm-utils, here are:

/usr/sbin/pm-suspend -> /usr/lib64/pm-utils/bin/pm-action
/usr/sbin/pm-hibernate -> /usr/lib64/pm-utils/bin/pm-action
/usr/sbin/pm-suspend-hybrid -> /usr/lib64/pm-utils/bin/pm-action

After installing sys-power/suspend the links didn't change (and
there's no block for installing both packages at the same time).

So, I guess, I misunderstood your "-->": you meant "analogue", not "link" .
