Dear Gentoo Community,

Gentoo-dev whitelisting[1][2] is nearly ready for deployment. The new
posting guidelines to post on gentoo-dev@lists.gentoo.org the following:

 - You must be a member of the list to post.
 - You must be on the whitelist to post.

The whitelist automatically whitelists all @gentoo.org addresses. Additions
of addresses to the whitelist can be made by any developer. To modify the
whitelist, please read this wiki page for instructions:

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Infrastructure/
Mailing_Lists#Managing_the_Gentoo-Dev_whitelist

[1] https://bugs.gentoo.org/650964
[2] The whitelist is not yet live, but I wanted to give folks an
opportunity to populate the whitelist before enabling it; so have at it.

Hi,

why is "antarus@gentoo.org" at the whtielist. IMO that is superfluous, or ?

I was just testing the whitelist out on a different list to make sure it
worked as I expected.

Just to be clear, whitelisting of gentoo.org addresses is not required.

Hi,

I'm not a gentoo dev but currently I have an official issue to
bugs.gentoo.org as proxy ebuild maintainer for same packages.

What is the right process for require insert of my email in whitelist?

Thanks in advance.

Contact proxy-maint@gentoo.org and ask that they sponsor you.

We may want to consider just whitelisting all proxy-maintainers; proxy
maint, is there a list someplace?

I think that for not official gentoo dev and proxy maint team list could be
build from bug.gentoo.org issue list that are open.

I try to contact proxy maint team.

Ty for reply.

People have had the necessary time for a long time already, so I don't
see a wait as being required.

I'm wondering,
<https://gitweb.gentoo.org/infra/gentoo-dev-whitelist.git> currently
says for me "No repositories found".

Am I using a wrong address, or does the new repo need gitweb setup?

FWIW of course I can use git, it's just in some cases (especially casual
browsing) gitweb can be more convenient.

Its not a public repo, so it isn't listed. If you think it should be
public, ask council; its a 1 line config change on our side.

I don't think publishing it is a good idea. Spammers are going to love
the easy list of e-mail addresses. Also GDPR may apply.

I have added all known proxied maintainers for now, as requested by many
of them. Proxy-maint will take care of monitoring their actions
and revoking if there's any doubt about their goodwill.

I think those who have editbugs would also be good candidates for
implicit whitelisting as well.

The whitelisting of gentoo-dev is now enabled.

There was a bug (since inception) where emails that should have been denied
were allowed due to loose rule enforcement.
The enforcement is more precise now, so if folks had their messages
accepted before, but find themselves unable to post, you may need to be
whitelisted.
To be whitelisted please find a developer to vouch for you; instructions
for developers are at
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Infrastructure/Mailing_Lists#Managing_the_Gentoo-Dev_whitelist

Thanks, and sorry for any confusion this bug caused.
