emerge search seems to only search the name of the ebuild. Is there
currently any way to also search the description? And if not is there
any reason not to implement this? Doing something like 'emerge search
irc' does not return BitchX as an example. And something like icc
'Intel's cc compiler' might be hard to search for since you may
not know the Gentoo agreed upon name of icc and simply search for intel.
Thanks,
Sean

hrmm, don't take any offence to this but bitchx is in /usr/portage/net-irc.
and what if some one does a description search for "a"?

grep doesn't disallow you to do a:
grep -r "a" /*
does it?
If people want to be stupid, let them. I think an added option of this nature
can be useful. I do think though a separate search command is more
appropriate though.

Then they deserve what they get.
It would still be nice to search descriptions. And if bitchx is in
net-irc then a search for irc should still find it and it doesn't. I'm
more then capable of looking in /usr/portage, but that really isn't the
point. For search to be truly usefull it should search more then the
name field.
