Does anyone think it would be possible to create at least an initial kernel
.config based on dmesg output?
My train of thought is for gentoo installation and initial emerge of linux
sources. If gentoo could check the dmesg output for what failed to load (when
the system is booted from the rc3 install CD for example) and see what
succeded then output a .config into the /usr/src/linux directory it would go
along with Gentoo's ultra coolness factor. :)
If something like that is possble and not sci-fi I would say it belongs in the
ebuild script of gentoo-sources (and/or possibly all source scripts) and
invoked ONLY during the initial install of course.
Far fetched? No way? Or should I pose it as an enhancement on bugs.gentoo.org?
Anyone?
Thanks,
Robert
